1. Application, extension, and continued development of online reading comprehension skills and strategies with inquiry projects and possibly collaborative online projects.
2. Increase skills in collaborative problem solving and strategic skill development.
3. We continue to evolve the goals for this phase.
1. Work often takes place individually and in small groups with the teacher acting more as a facilitator.
2. The initial focus is on independent inquiry with support from groups and class.
3. Later, the focus shifts to collaborative projects with other classrooms.
a. Whole class first
b. Small groups and individuals, later.
4. Regularly have students work in groups to teach the teacher something they think the teacher does not know. This will also teach the others in each group who do not know about it. This is consistent with Reciprocal Teaching principles.
5. Have students work in groups to determine what they know on the checklist. Then share and exchange. Also consistent with Reciprocal Teaching.
6. Tell the students what you really liked about the way they taught you. This prepares them for teaching one another during Stage II. Ex: I really liked the way that you talked me through each step and made me use the mouse while you explained the skill. Also consistent with Reciprocal Teaching.
